Not maximization or minimization – life is about optimization

We have all seen greatly successful people with no family life, extremely talented artists unable to make a decent living, or someone very rich but with nothing else in his or her life.

I think they are the symptoms of one phenomenon. Falling for the trap of extreme.

Whenever I see words or phrases like – “The cheapest”, “Maximizing”, or “minimizing” “to be the number 1”, “the best”, “the most”, or “the champion “I become very cautious.

My father grew up with a lot of hardship. He had to struggle a lot to have a decent education and to stand on his own feet. He was always focused on saving. Whenever he would have bonuses or some extra money – it would go into savings.

I suddenly realized that I might also be having the same pattern. It dawned on me that when we focus on something, we don’t think of everything else. We forget that “everything else “has a lot of important substances.

Our life has multiple dimensions – health, wealth, relationship, spiritual belief, etc.

We ignore one – they come back and bite us. When we are too focused on success and material wealth, we often pay the price of relationships or close family. When we focus too much on a passion for something – we often end up in situations where we don’t have money to pay bills.

For me I want to keep the things important to my knowledge in purview; -health, my need for food and shelter, my actualization need, connection, love, and service. Then I try to balance them. I have committed to myself that I will keep reminding myself of all these aspects of life.

Soi in the end life is about the optimization of everything – and not maximizing or minimizing one thing.

  4. I was curious if you ever thought of changing the
layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to
say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could
connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only
having one or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
