My life – your illusion

Part I

In a beautiful sunny day

You saw a man

Up in the hill

Hiking on a trail.

He is a lucky man,

You think

Enjoying the day

Hiking on the trail.

And your heart ached.

You could almost

Feel

Fresh air feeling your lungs,

See

Winding trail

In front of your eyes.

On that morning

I was trudging along the trail

My legs aching,

Thirsty and exhausted

Dying to reach home.

Part II

On a full moon night

You saw a man

In a home

Overlooking the ocean

With sprawling garden

On top of a hill.

Hi is a lucky man

You think,

Enjoying the vista

And Ocean

Murmuring into his ears.

And your heart ached.

May be some day

Such a house will be yours;

You will enjoy the moonlit night

Sipping a vintage wine.

I was lonely

With nobody in the house

It felt like a jail

I was wishing I were in a party

in that moonlit eerie evening

Part III

On another day in another country

You never saw such slums in your country

How can people live here – you think?

You feel pity for the poor people

Living such miserable life.

I was watching the TV

With my wife.

My three-year-old

Immersed in the joy

Of playing with a broken toy.

With nothing to complain about

With my family by my side

It was a wonderful life.

Part IV

The illusion

My life is the movie you see.

With the story in your head.

But I live

With joy and sorrow,

With pain and pleasure

And it happens in my head

Your eyes but

Weaves the illusion
